Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is the subject of fresh rumors that it will launch new versions of the iPad and iPad Mini sometime this spring. Brian White, an analyst at Topeka Capital Markets, is being quoted by numerous sources as reporting that his “checks” at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) indicate that both an iPad 5 and an iPad Mini 2 will be released in March. This follows numerous rumors and reports since before Christmas.
According to most reports, the new versions will be thinner and lighter with better performance. A significant change in the new models is likely to be their displays; they will probably adopt Sharp’s new IGZO display technology. The main advantage of this technology is that it offers a higher pixel density with unparalleled image quality and brightness, while using less power and allowing the devices to be thinner.
These reports, if true, could indicate that Apple is speeding up its release cycle for new versions of iOS devices models in order to keep up with technology and competition.
